Spaceships to the Rescue

SPACESHIPS TO THE RESCUE

Is it a car? Is it a campervan? No! It’s a Spaceship!

OZnews3This new adventure superhero has touched down from another world, coming to the aid of travellers who want freedom to explore the wilds of this great continent without having to handle a clunky, chunky campervan.

For too long independent travellers have had to choose between the flexibility of a car – with the added expense of accommodation, and the facilities of a campervan, with its driving, handling and accessibility challenges.

Today Adventure Tours Australia is letting loose on the world its fleet of out-of-this-world Spaceships, combining the comfort and handling ease of a car with all the facilities of a campervan.

The award-winning Toyota people movers are custom fitted with everything an intrepid explorer could need or want, but can also go anywhere a car can go.

OZnews2“Today’s adventure tourists want to experience nature in all its beauty, but also want to do so in a certain degree of comfort,” says Spaceships Australia GM Craig Hart. “Spaceships cater to their every whim, with comfortable sleeping for two to four people, a six-speaker entertainment system including a DVD and MP3 player, a two-burner barbecue, water supply, fridge, pots, pans, a table and unlimited DVDs.”

“With automatic transmission, power steering and air conditioning, they’re easier to handle than a campervan, and are more comfortable to travel in as well.”

Spaceships were developed in New Zealand, where they have really taken off with travellers since their launch in October 2004. Adventure Tours Australia has signed an exclusive licence deal to import the award-winning vehicles.

“We have a fleet of 40 Spaceships already, and more are landing at the rate of 10 a month,” says Mr Hart. “At present they’re available out of our Sydney and Cairns offices, but we will be introducing them to Brisbane and Melbourne by April.”

OZnews1As well as encouraging trailblazing Spaceships crews to boldly go where they have not gone before, with the help of their unique support and guidance package that includes itinerary planning, Space Stations (local points of contact), guidebooks and great deals on adventure activities; Adventure Tours/Spaceships Australia believes strongly in educating international visitors so each vehicle comes with an environmental care code, campground maps and information on accessing public shower and toilet facilities.
“We want travellers to experience everything Australia has to offer while still encouraging sustainable tourism.” Says Mr Hart. Spaceships Australia have been taking bookings for the last few months but now with their new Head Space Station open on William St (Darlinghurst, Sydney) they are fully ready to get people jetting off into Australia’s outer space!
