SPACESHIPS TO THE RESCUE
Is it a car? Is it a campervan? No! It’s a Spaceship!
This new adventure superhero has touched down from another world, coming to the aid of travellers who want freedom to explore the wilds of this great continent without having to handle a clunky, chunky campervan.
For too long independent travellers have had to choose between the flexibility of a car – with the added expense of accommodation, and the facilities of a campervan, with its driving, handling and accessibility challenges.
Today Adventure Tours Australia is letting loose on the world its fleet of out-of-this-world Spaceships, combining the comfort and handling ease of a car with all the facilities of a campervan.
The award-winning Toyota people movers are custom fitted with everything an intrepid explorer could need or want, but can also go anywhere a car can go.
“Today’s adventure tourists want to experience nature in all its beauty, but also want to do so in a certain degree of comfort,” says Spaceships Australia GM Craig Hart. “Spaceships cater to their every whim, with comfortable sleeping for two to four people, a six-speaker entertainment system including a DVD and MP3 player, a two-burner barbecue, water supply, fridge, pots, pans, a table and unlimited DVDs.”
“With automatic transmission, power steering and air conditioning, they’re easier to handle than a campervan, and are more comfortable to travel in as well.”
Spaceships were developed in New Zealand, where they have really taken off with travellers since their launch in October 2004. Adventure Tours Australia has signed an exclusive licence deal to import the award-winning vehicles.
“We have a fleet of 40 Spaceships already, and more are landing at the rate of 10 a month,” says Mr Hart. “At present they’re available out of our Sydney and Cairns offices, but we will be introducing them to Brisbane and Melbourne by April.”
As well as encouraging trailblazing Spaceships crews to boldly go where they have not gone before, with the help of their unique support and guidance package that includes itinerary planning, Space Stations (local points of contact), guidebooks and great deals on adventure activities; Adventure Tours/Spaceships Australia believes strongly in educating international visitors so each vehicle comes with an environmental care code, campground maps and information on accessing public shower and toilet facilities.
“We want travellers to experience everything Australia has to offer while still encouraging sustainable tourism.” Says Mr Hart. Spaceships Australia have been taking bookings for the last few months but now with their new Head Space Station open on William St (Darlinghurst, Sydney) they are fully ready to get people jetting off into Australia’s outer space!
Spaceships registered in OZ
Hi everyone,
A very busy day today on the fantastic Sunshine Coast today – not playing on the beach (it has been raining a bit) but doing something even better – registering Straylian Spaceships!
Things are all finally nearly finished so we will have significant announcements each week over the next month or so.
Have lots of fun,
Neil
- 21st Nov 2007First Spaceships named
Hi everyone,
I’m in Straylia again this week, we’ve been progressing well - we actually just named the first five Aussie Spaceships today – they are Tardis, Firefly, Jazz, Excalibur and Magna Carta (space and sci-fi geeks will know what they mean!)
Back to NZ tomorrow to catch up with everyone there,
Lots of cheers,
Neil
- 24th Oct 2007Space names needed
Hi everyone,
I’m back at my desk for the first time on a Wednesday in six weeks. I have to admit I’m struggling to stay seated and concentrate after all of my roaming around.
It really feels like summer is on its way – not only can I not see my computer screen from the glare (which makes it hard to look at motorbikes on Trademe) but forward bookings are flying in for both Spaceships and Stray. Mostly my mind is on Straylian stuff at the moment as there is a lot to do before the December launch – like think of hundreds more Space names!
I must say that the completed vehicles which are already in Oz look absolutely outstanding and are a credit to our NZ Spaceship factory (for the interiors) and our new Straylian painters, sparkies, and engineers. If anyone is interested in making a prebooking please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Have lots of fun,
Neil
